PUBLIC SPEAKING & DEBATE
We participate annually in the A.T.K.V competitions in the Afrikaans division as
well as in the Inter Benoni competitions. We also enter into debating competitions
for our English learners.
Hans Moore takes great pride in staging a revue every second year. We try to involve as
many pupils as possible and it has become one of the main events on the cultural calendar.
The pupils get first hand experience of the entertainment world, as the school makes use of
professional sound and lighting engineers as well as choreographers.
GRADE 8 CONCERT
This event has become an unforgettable experience for many Hans Moore learners.
Not only is it the objective to assimilate the grade 8’s into the school community, but it
is a big challenge for the newly elected RCL. They take full responsibility for the writing
and the directing of the concert. The learners surprise the audience every year with great
initiative and innovation.
Learners are encouraged to enter into national and local writing events. The school
participates in the Con Spirito writing festival each year. Pupils excel in this regard
and several of their works have been published.
We believe in stimulating our pupils creatively by giving them the opportunity to compete
in the Eisteddfod each year. Not only were various pupils trophy winners, but Hans Moore
was also declared the best performing school in the senior category.
YOUTH CHOIRS AND ORCHESTRA
Many Hans Moore learners receive recognition for their involvement in provincial choirs
and orchestras like the Ekurhuleni and Colla Voice Choir, as well as the East Rand Youth
It is tradition in Hans Moore to celebrate the Festive Season with an annual Christmas service. Not only do we use this as an occasion of praise, but we also commemorate
those whom we have lost during the past year with a remembrance tree.
